Today was a day for travel and more travel. Starting on the edge of the Smokey Mountains, we traveled through the woods and up and down various ridges and valleys. As we got lower in elevation, the trees went from just starting to bud to being in full foliage. Even some of the cottonwoods were putting forth their characteristic fluff. One thing I noticed, however, was the size of the bugs. Holy moly, having critters the size of small aircraft going splat on the windshield was somewhat disconcerting. It was quite the technicolor display…ick!
Since there were no family quarters available at the Little Rock Air Force Base, we pressed on to the Texas side of Texarkana for the night. It made for a long day, but it wasn’t a terribly hard drive. At this point we are ready to be home, so we are pressing on a little farther each day. We should be home by Tuesday!

Just a final wish for safe passage on the final leg of your trek home.
We decided that after a long journey ... especially one that ends with a 12-15 hour drive on the last day ... you'd be ready for absolutley nothing. So we did some of the house chores so you wouldn't have to. The front lawn is mowed (sorry, we just didn't feel like weeding the flower gardens) ... the kitchen and dining room floors are swept and washed ... the family room carpet is vacuumed and washed (trust me, it needed it). I like your new washing machine ... it did a great job on your kitchen and family room rugs ... even in cold water ... hopefull, everything will be dry by the time you get home (we were expecting you later in the week).
And speaking of cold water ... I decided that, on my way home from work today, I'll swing by and turn your hot water heater back on for you. After our phone conversation about your time schedule, you'd both probably like a "hot" shower before crawling into bed for the night. I know about the stresses of driving across country with kids ... maybe not 4 kids ... 2 was enough for me. They are a joy ... but they can also be a handful ... LOL!!!
Thanks for the use of the Jacuzzi, Dar and I enjoyed it ... we hope we didn't scare the neighbors ... LOL! The Jacuzzi's closed back up and the circuit breakers are off and locked.
Bell is now a lap kitty ... at least she has been for the last 2 days. And I don't think she enjoys being left alone as evidenced by her extremely LOUD MEOWING every time I go into the garage and leave her in the house. She'll need some extra loving when you get back ... I'm sure you, and especially the kids, will provide that in abundance. No worries ... we didn't turn the fish into "lap" fish ... we thought that may a bit much ... LOL.
The rain and cooler weather is finally giving way to upper 70's again. Hopefully it'll erase some of those cold and windy days and nights you experienced on the the other side of the country. And no BIG bugs here either ... LOL ... the pressure washer is standing by!
Be safe and we'll see you when you get home!
Jay
